Leadership

Pastor Caleb Gerber

Pastor Caleb Gerber grew up in a pastor's home in the mountains of Virginia, where he was saved at age 5. Every summer, his youth group attended camp in Hillsville, Virginia. At age 17, during one of those camps, he fully surrendered his life to the Lord's service, promising to go wherever God led and do whatever God asked. Later that same year, at a youth conference, he surrendered to preach the Word of God for the rest of his life.

While attending and graduating from Hyles-Anderson College, Pastor Caleb met his wife, Grace. She grew up in a Christian home, was saved at a young age, and surrendered her life to the Lord during chapel at her Christian school. Grace also graduated from Hyles-Anderson College with a degree in elementary education. They have been married nearly nine years and are blessed with two sons, Luke and Ezekiel.

A few months after graduation, they moved to East Moline, Illinois, where Pastor Caleb served on church staff and Grace taught at the Christian school for three years. They then accepted a call to Plymouth, Indiana, where Pastor Caleb served as assistant pastor for five years. In August 2025, God led the Gerber family here to Huber Heights Baptist Temple.

Pastor Gerber's deepest desire is to faithfully serve the people here, to diligently study and preach God's Word, to reach the lost through soul-winning, and to disciple believers so they can in turn teach others.

Youth Director Sexton Family

Youth Director Jimmy Sexton

Jimmy Sexton first encountered the reality of hell during a Wednesday night service. The pastor's clear message shook him deeply—he had never understood hell as a real place, nor realized that without salvation it would be his eternal destination. When the invitation was given and the pastor asked anyone who did not know Jesus as Savior to look at him, Jimmy looked up. The pastor then asked him directly if he wanted to come forward to be shown how to be saved. Overcome with fear, Jimmy shook his head no and gripped the pew in front of him tightly.

The following Saturday, his Sunday School teacher, Denny, visited the family home. Denny had faithfully shared the gospel at the close of every class, and though Jimmy had never responded before, the Holy Spirit had been quietly convicting him. That afternoon, with Jimmy's parents present, Denny reviewed the Wednesday service and carefully explained the plan of salvation once more. The conviction became overwhelming. Jimmy asked Jesus to forgive his sins and come into his heart as Savior. In that moment, instant relief and joy flooded his soul—the heavy burden lifted, and he never doubted his salvation again. One week later, he followed the Lord in believer's baptism.

Except for three years spent serving in the Army, Jimmy has remained faithfully at Huber Heights Baptist Temple ever since. He has joyfully served in every capacity needed—driving buses, teaching teenage Sunday School, helping with fall festivals and missions conferences, cutting grass, cleaning, repairing, and serving on both the trustee and deacon boards. God's abundant blessings on him and his family have been evident through it all, and Jimmy readily acknowledges that none of it would have been possible without the Lord.

Former Pastor Zimmerman

Founding Pastor Chuck Zimmerman

Pastor Chuck Zimmerman was born on December 1, 1941, and raised in Dayton, Ohio. He began playing guitar at age 9 and started his singing and recording career at age 15, dreaming at the time of becoming a rock-and-roll star. Yet the Lord had a greater plan for him. Over the next eleven years, God patiently worked in Chuck's heart, drawing him to salvation.

Just before his 27th birthday, Chuck gave his life to Christ and was baptized. He soon joined a Baptist church and began singing in a gospel quartet. In January 1974, God clearly called him to preach, and by April of that same year he became pastor of the young Huber Heights Baptist Temple.

For more than 52 years, Pastor Zimmerman's faithful ministry has made Huber Heights Baptist Temple a shining light and a beacon of Bible preaching and soul-winning in the community.
